Deodorant Paste

Conventional brands of deodorant are full of all kinds of nasties!

In fact I have a whole journal entry about the toxins and chemicals found in conventional brands of personal care products!

I have been making my own inexpensive chemical free deodorant for years and the best part is that this recipe can be adapted to suit everyone's journey and their skin sensitivity!

This gentle deodorant paste is perfect for anyone with sensitive skin and is where I started my DIY deodorant journey!

INGREDIENTS:

4 TBSP of bentonite clay

4 TBSP of arrowroot powder

5 TBSP of coconut oil

10 - 15 drops of young living essential oils

METHOD:

Simply mix it all together and store in an airtight container or jar of your choice!

Bentonite clay and metal are not friends.

When using bentonite clay in your do it yourself recipes metal bowls and metal spoons should be avoided.

Bentonite clay is rich in minerals like silica, calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron, and potassium.

When bentonite clay comes in contact with metal it not only absorbs the metals but it also becomes less nourishing and in turn less effective.

This regular deodorant paste is the perfect middle ground and is what I use today!

INGREDIENTS:

2 TBSP of bentonite clay

2 TBSP of bicarbonate soda

4 TBSP of arrowroot powder

5 TBSP of coconut oil

10 - 15 drops of young living essential oils

METHOD:

Simply mix it all together and store in an airtight container or jar of your choice!

I love to alternate coconut oils depending on the weather!

In summer I use virgin coconut oil and in winter I use fractionated coconut oil;

This will ensure that your deodorant paste is the perfect consistency to use all year 'round!

This strong deodorant paste is perfect for those that can tolerate more bicarb than others.

When it comes to essential oils you may be scratching your head wondering what to use.

If you've been following me for a while you will know that I exclusively use Young Living's essential oils for their quality.

(Young Living are the only company in the world to have their essential oils approved by the TGA)

When choosing what oils to add to your deodorant paste stick to oils that are good for your skin such as lavender, frankincense, blue tansy, copaiba, rose and ylang ylang or alternatively you can use any good quality oils that are safe for topical application.

If you are transitioning from a conventional brand deodorant to a chemical free deodorant you will need to prepare for a detoxification process!

Conventional deodorant throws off the bacterial balance of your armpits, not to mention your ability to naturally detoxify and sweat.

The detoxification process will only last a week or so.

You've got this!
